About the route
A round-the-world ticket usually heads east from Europe with stops in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas. This template flies London to Dubai, Bangkok, Sydney and Auckland, crosses the Pacific and the date line to Los Angeles, then goes on to New York and back to London.
Flights are drawn as great-circle arcs, the shortest path across the globe, which is why they bend towards the poles on a flat map. The template opens on the 3D globe, which turns as the trip goes east; switch Map shape to Flat map in the Style panel to see the whole route at once. Satellite imagery makes the oceans and deserts glow; add a callout with the total distance at the end.
Tips for your video
- On the globe the overview camera turns with the trip; a follow camera at zoom 3 feels like a real flight.
- Arcs cross the date line the short way, so the Pacific leg stays in one piece.
- Add a callout like "42,000 km · 8 flights" at the last stop.
