About the route

Route 66 is the most famous road trip in the world: about 3,900 km of old two-lane highway between Lake Michigan and the Pacific. It crosses Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, past neon motels, diners, ghost towns and the painted deserts of the Southwest.

This template draws the classic city-to-city line from Chicago to the Santa Monica Pier with a stop at each major town. Open it in the editor, add your own motels and photo stops, choose a camera that follows the car, and export a 4K video for your road-trip vlog. The Desert Road map style is preselected, and Old Atlas or Midnight work well too.

Tips for your video

  • Add a passport stamp at each state line to show the eight states.
  • Use the follow camera at zoom 6–7 so the whole width of a state fits the frame.
  • For Shorts and Reels, switch the video to 9:16 and set the line to about 12 seconds.
